작품은 곧 돈이다

갤러리의 본질은?

 

인사동뿐만 아니라 우리와 가까이 있는 번화가 혹은 곳곳에 갤러리들이 존재한다. 최근에 많은 곳을 다니며 새롭고 좋은 작품들을 보러 다닐 수 있었다. 갤러리를 통해 어떠한 그림들이 많이 그려지고 있는지 무슨 그림이 트랜드인지 알 수 있다.

 

작가들과 화가들에게 좋은 기회가 되는 갤러리. 갤러리의 주목적은 지역 주민들과 작품에 대한 생각을 공유하고 여유를 가지게 하는 일 그러면서 그림을 파는 일이지 않을까 생각한다. 물론 갤러리마다 주목적이 있을 수 있기에 이상적인 면인 여유를 가지게 해주는 일은 멀어질 수 있다.

 

 

다녀온 곳 중의 한 곳의 갤러리는 주목적인 판매로 하는 것처럼 보였다. 물론 그림을 사지 않는 사람은 반갑지 않겠지만, 들어오자마자 대 놓고 "어디서 오셨어요?, 뭐하시는 분이세요?"라고 물어보는 곳은 처음이었다. 또 다음 들어오는 방문객에게 대하는 무례한 행동들을 보고 작품은 정말 좋은데, 왜 저런 식으로 사람을 대하는지 이해할 수 없었다. 서성거리며 들었던 내용은 그렇다. "우리 갤러리 작품은 비싸요, 하지만 몇백만 원짜리 백을 사는데 부담이 없으면 사셔도 돼요."

 

갤러리를 둘러보며 작품들이 말하고자 하는 모습과는 전혀 다른 갤러리의 행동을 보고 혀를 차며 그냥 나와버렸다. 물론, 갤러리도 작품을 팔아야 하는 상점이긴 하나 예술 작품과 방문객에 대하는 행동을 보았을 때, 나는 이해하기 힘든 점들을 보고 너무나 크게 충격을 먹은 것 같다. 아무리 작품을 팔아야 한다는 강박관념이 강해서 그랬을지라도, 조금 여유를 가지고 고객에게 다가오면 어땠을까 아쉬움을 가지고 글을 남긴다.

 

p.s 한동안 많은 일이 있어 글 올리는 것이 게을러졌네요. 다시 열심히 하겠습니다.

Art = Money ?

 

The gallery exists everywhere. I believe that we can find the gallery which close to us not even Insadong. Recently, I have been visitied the galleries and seen the arts. Through watching the arts at galleries, I can figure out the trends of arts, and which painting is drawn substantially.

 

The gallery gives opportunities to painter or artists . I believe that the main purpose of gallery is sharing the ideas and information of arts. Moreover, people can take time and rest with arts. Of course, it would be ideal thinking. However, if the gallery would be doing like that, people would me more visit the gallery and enjoy it.

 

 

 

I have weired experienced from the gallery. That gallery seems to sell the paintings. Absoultely, they don't like people who won't buy painting. However, their behavior is so odder and unusual than the others. When I visitied the gallery, they aksed "where came from?", "What did you do?" Also, they asked people who came later than me "Are you coming for buying the painting?, we have expensive paintings. So, if you feel free spending money around $1000 easilly like buying bag, take the painting or go up stairs then see the imitations."

 

I was so impressive their actions to deal with customers. Even though I really liked their paintings and atmosphere the gallery, I wouldn't like to stay there. I understood that they should sell the paintings, but their behavior was the lack of manners, and sorry to treat the arts andor customers.
