셋. 은밀한 장소, 화장실

화장실의 새로운 변화들을 선보이는 

 

 

 

 

지난 주, 21일 목요일 부터 27일 수요일까지 서울 DDP에서 생활의 발견이라는 주제로 화장실 문화변화에 따른 공예품, 관련 욕실용품을 판매하는 컨벤션을 열었다. "은밀한 공예"라는 부 소재로 다양한 아이디어의 화장실, 욕실 용품을 볼 수 있었다. 변기의 다양한 디자인과 함께 "원초적 본능", "에덴의 동산", "휴지의 향연"등 이색적이고 참신한 컨셉의 화장실을 볼 수 있었다.

 

Last week, There was a unusual concept of convention with exhibition, Discover the Seoul 2017. The main purpose was showing that the development of toilet and bath. Also, they were selling bath products such as diffusers, soaps, toothpaste, and toothbrush from producers, artists, students who related with fitting in theme. They had unique and characteristic of toilet exhibition as called "Basic Instinct", "The Garden of Eden," and "Feast of Toilet Paper". This convention was held 

Sept 21 to 27. 

 

 

 

 

미국에 생활을 하면서 대한민국만큼 화장실이 깨끗한 곳도 없다고 생각된다. 심지어 공용 화장실도 무료로 사용하는데, 관리도 정말 잘 되어있다. 이렇게 깨끗한 화장실을 새로운 컨셉 혹은 색다른 아이디어로 변기에대한 인식을 바꾸기 위한 노력들을 볼 수 있었다. 3~4개의 컨셉의 욕실과 화장실을 보며 마르셀 뒤샹의 샘과 같은 작품들과 뉴욕 구겐하임에 전시되어있는 황금변기(행위예술가 카텔란의 "America")을 떠올리며 한국에서 우리들만의 변기에 대한 인식을 새롭게 표현했다고 보인다. 

 

방문 당일, DDP에서 제대로 된 컨벤션 혹은 전시를 본 것은 처음이였다. 밖에서는 다양한 행사들로 이루어져 사람들도 북적였는데, 2017 생활의 발견에서는 많은 사람들을 만나 볼 수가 없었다. 은밀한 공예, 혹은 우리가 생각하는 화장실처럼 은밀하고 깊순한 공간에 전시가 이루어져 아쉬움이 남았다. 화장실과 욕실에 대한 다양한 면을 보여주기 위해 조금더 오픈되어있는 공간에서 이루어졌다면 화장실도 새로운 디자인과 변화를 줄 수 있다는 면을 보여줄 수 있지 않았을까?

 

I think that Korea has really great and clean toilet even though public toilet in subway. As I living at the U.S, there were really no good. If you have been there, you will understand what I mean. With this clean toilet, It showed Koreans own perceptions of the toilet. This exhibition gave the idea that the toilet can be made and changed with unique and characteristics themes and concepts like Marcel Duchamp's "Fountain", and Maurizio Catelan's America".

 

It was the first time to visit DDP. At that time, there were a lot of activities, but I couldn't find people in Discover the Seoul 2017. The convention was held inside of building secretly like fit in the subject. If they set up the public space, they could give more messages about toilet can change diversity.
