과학에서 예술로 된 X-ray

사물의 본 질을 바라보다 See thing's Hidden inside

 

6월 부터 8월까지 예술의 전당 한가람미술관에서 전시되었던 X-Ray Man. 세계 최고의 엑스레이 아티스트이자 필름메이커인 닉 베세이의 작품들을 만나 볼 수 있었다. 과학과 예술의 접목으로 새로운 장르를 만들어내고 있다고 생각한다. 엑스레이는 과학과 의학의 발전을 이끌고 최근에는 예술분야에서도 활용되고있다. 이에 새롭게 실험하는 예술 작품들을 볼 수 있는 좋은 기회였다고 생각한다.

 

In Seoul Art Center, there was the first exhibition of X-Ray Man by Nick Veasey from June to August. We could see the Nick's works. Recently, it comes new sections which combining of science and arts. I mean that X-ray lead development of science and

medical science. Nowdays,  X-ray is used at field of arts. Therefore, it was good opportunities and experiences to see new parts of arts with science.

 

 

닉 베세이의 작품들은 5가지의 주제의 구성되어있었다. 엑스레이를 통해 사물의 내면, 꽃과 식물, 사람의 감정과 내면, 현대인의 패션에 대한 생각, 그리고 닉 베세이의 올해 작업한 신작으로 구성되었다. 주제와 작품들을 통해 닉 베세이의 메세지를 볼 수 있었다.

 

닉 베세이는 엑스레이를 통해서 사물의 본질을 다른 시선과 시야로 사물의 실체를 발견하고 그 본질을 보여지도록 노력했다고한다. 닉의 엑스레이 작품에서는 사물의 내면과 생물체의 표면이 투명하게 대체되면서 내면의 독특하고 아름다운 형태를 볼 수 있었다. 이를 통해 사물을 평범하게 바라보는 시선을 다른 방식으로도 색다르게 바라볼 수 있다는 틀을 깼다고 본다.

 

There were consisted by 5 types of subjects. Through x-ray technology, revealing of things, natural forms, people, fashion, and new stuffs of current year works. We could figure out Nick's messages from his works.

 

Nick Veasey uses X-ray techonolgy to reveal the deepest layers and peer inside all manner of subjects. In Nick's works, we see the beautiful and unique inside shapes as making transparent of their surfaces. Moreover, he breake my perspective to see the things and support to see the other ways.

 

 

닉 베세이는 "나는 엑스레이를 통해 겉모습이 아닌 사물의 본질을 본다, 우리가 대수롭지 않게 당연시 여기는 것들, 지극히 평범한 일상적인 사물은 모두 각자의 아름다움을 숨기고 있다." 라고 전했다.

 

특히 인물을 현상화 시킬때, 엑스레이 사진에서는 인종, 성별, 나이가 나오지 않고 모두 똑같아 보였다. 외형을 중시하고 있는 현대인들에게 내면을 바라보는 시간을 주는 계기가 되었다고 생각한다. 우리가 대수롭지 않게 당연시 여기는것들이 엑스레이로 현상화 된 모습을 통해 닉 베세이가 말하는 본질을 파악 할 수 있었다

Nick Veasey said "X-ray has integrity and honesty becasue it shows things for what they really are. Also, x-ray is a spectrum of light in its own right it's just invisible to the human eye."

 

When I saw the works, it was to hard to find races, sex, and ages. They looked the same. Today, many people focus on appearance, but this exhibition gives opportunities that people think inner side. We have no regard normal or regular things, but Nick shows things for waht they really are throguh X-ray.
